1. Zero tolerance
ExpatTribe strictly prohibits any content or behaviour that exploits, sexualises or endangers a child, including:
- any child sexual abuse material (CSAM), whether real, drawn or generated;
- any solicitation, manipulation or attempt to contact a child for sexual purposes (grooming);
- any sexualisation of a child, including through text or a misused photo;
- any attempt to obtain photos, information or a meeting with a child;
- the trafficking or exploitation of children in any form.
These rules complement our terms of use, which already prohibit any use that harms the safety of families, and of children in particular.
2. An adults-only service
- An account is created and managed exclusively by an adult, for their family. Children have no account and cannot write in the app.
- Children only appear by their first name and age, entered by their parents, and only to families with whom a connection has been made.
- A family's location is never shown: other families only see an approximate area and a distance, never an address.
3. Reporting in the app
Every family can, from within the app:
- report a family from its profile (reasons: inappropriate content, fake profile, harassment, other, with a free comment); the reported family is immediately blocked and disappears from the map, the directory and conversations;
- report a question, an answer or a guide article; the content immediately disappears from the reporting family's screen;
- block a family at any time, without having to give a reason.
You can also write to us directly at hello@expattribe.app, even without an account.
4. What we do with a report
- Every report is reviewed by the ExpatTribe team, with absolute priority when it concerns a child's safety.
- Content that breaches these standards is removed, and the account that posted it is permanently deleted.
- Any child sexual abuse material or attempt to exploit a child is reported to the competent authorities: in Spain, where ExpatTribe is established, the Policía Nacional and the Guardia Civil, as well as NCMEC (CyberTipline) and the authorities of the country concerned where relevant. We preserve the evidence needed for any investigation and cooperate with the authorities.
5. Compliance with the law
ExpatTribe complies with applicable child protection laws, including Spanish and European Union law, and reports child sexual abuse material it becomes aware of to regional and national authorities.
6. Contact
For any question about these standards, or to report a concern about a child's safety: hello@expattribe.app.
If a child is in immediate danger, call the emergency services first (112 in the European Union).
